The llc_cmsg_rcv function in net/llc/af_llc.c in the Linux kernel before 4.5.5 does not initialize a certain data structure, which allows attackers to obtain sensitive information from kernel stack memory by reading a message.
The weakness was published 05/04/2016 as confirmed mailinglist post (oss-sec). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-4485 since 05/04/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
