A vulnerability has been found in Apple iOS up to 9.3.1 (Smartphone Operating System) and classified as problematic. The CFNetwork Proxies subsystem in Apple iOS before 9.3.2, OS X before 10.11.5, and tvOS before 9.2.1 mishandles URLs in http and https requests, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was presented 05/16/2016 by Alex Chapman with Context Information Security as HT206568 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-1801 since 01/13/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue. The advisory points out:
An information leak existed in the handling of HTTP and HTTPS requests. This issue was addressed through improved URL handling.
