A vulnerability was found in WordPress up to 4.4.1 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function wp_http_validate_url of the file wp-includes/http.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. The wp_http_validate_url function in wp-includes/http.php in WordPress before 4.4.2 allows remote attackers to conduct server-side request forgery (SSRF) attacks via a zero value in the first octet of an IPv4 address.
