The XSS auditor in WebKit, as used in Apple iOS before 9.3 and Safari before 9.1, does not properly handle redirects in block mode, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via a crafted URL.
The weakness was shared 06/19/2016 by Takeshi Terada with Mitsui Bussan Secure Directions, Inc. (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-1864 since 01/13/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1592 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
