The XLSX2CSV example in Apache POI before 3.14 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a crafted OpenXML document containing an external entity declaration in conjunction with an entity reference, related to an XML External Entity (XXE) issue.

The weakness was published 08/05/2016 by Mauro Gentile with Minded Security (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-5000 since 05/24/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
