A vulnerability has been found in Oracle Retail Order Broker 4.1/5.1/5.2/15.0/16.0 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Order Broker Foundation. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a xml external entity reference vulnerability. The product processes an XML document that can contain XML entities with URIs that resolve to documents outside of the intended sphere of control, causing the product to embed incorrect documents into its output. The XLSX2CSV example in Apache POI before 3.14 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a crafted OpenXML document containing an external entity declaration in conjunction with an entity reference, related to an XML External Entity (XXE) issue.

The bug was discovered 07/22/2016. The weakness was shared 01/19/2017 by Mauro Gentile with Minded Security as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - January 2017 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at oracle.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-5000 since 05/24/2016. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
