The mjpeg_decode_scan_progressive_ac function in libavcodec/mjpegdec.c in FFmpeg before 1.1 allows remote attackers to have an unspecified impact via crafted MJPEG data.

The issue has been introduced in 09/30/2012. The weakness was presented 11/11/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as mjpegdec: check SE. as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is available at git.videolan.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-0854 since 01/07/2013. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
