A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in FFmpeg up to 1.2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software). This issue affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a array index vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-129. The product uses untrusted input when calculating or using an array index, but the product does not validate or incorrectly validates the index to ensure the index references a valid position within the array. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was shared 05/29/2013 by Paul B Mahol as lavfi/noise: fix out of array access as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared at git.videolan.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The exploitation is known to be difficult. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
