An issue was discovered in phpMyAdmin. The transformation feature allows a user to trigger a denial-of-service (DoS) attack against the server. All 4.6.x versions (prior to 4.6.4), 4.4.x versions (prior to 4.4.15.8), and 4.0.x versions (prior to 4.0.10.17) are affected.
The bug was discovered 08/06/2016. The weakness was published 12/11/2016 by Emanuel Bronshtein (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-6618 since 08/06/2016. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
