A vulnerability has been found in Zend Framework up to 2.4.10/2.5.x/2.6.x/2.7.1 (Programming Tool Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function setFrom of the component zend-mail. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. The setFrom function in the Sendmail adapter in the zend-mail component before 2.4.11, 2.5.x, 2.6.x, and 2.7.x before 2.7.2, and Zend Framework before 2.4.11 might allow remote attackers to pass extra parameters to the mail command and consequently execute arbitrary code via a \" (backslash double quote) in a crafted e-mail address.

The weakness was presented 12/30/2016 (Website). The advisory is available at framework.zend.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-10034. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1202 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
