Details
A vulnerability was found in libpng up to 1.6.26 (Image Processing Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects the function png_set_text_2. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. The bug was discovered 12/29/2016. The weakness was released 12/30/2016 by Patrick Keshishian as [slackware-security] libpng (SSA:2016-365-01) as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq).
