Borg (aka BorgBackup) before 1.0.9 has a flaw in the cryptographic protocol used to authenticate the manifest (list of archives), potentially allowing an attacker to spoof the list of archives.
The bug was discovered 12/20/2016. The weakness was disclosed 01/02/2017 by Ian Beer (Website). The advisory is shared for download at borgbackup.readthedocs.io. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-10099 since 01/02/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
