A vulnerability was found in ImageMagick up to 7.0.3 (Image Processing Software). It has been declared as problematic. MagickCore/profile.c in ImageMagick before 7.0.3-2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 10/03/2016. The weakness was published 01/18/2017 by Marco Grassi (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-7799 since 09/09/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Upgrading to version 7.0.3-2 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
