A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in ImageMagick 7.0.3-8 (Image Processing Software). This affects the function IsPixelGray of the file MagickCore/pixel-accessor.h. The IsPixelGray function in MagickCore/pixel-accessor.h in ImageMagick 7.0.3-8 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds heap read) via a crafted image file.
The bug was discovered 12/01/2016. The weakness was presented 03/23/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo with Gentoo (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-9556 since 11/22/2016. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
