A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in libming 0.4.7 (Programming Tool Software). Affected by this issue is the function parseSWF_DEFINEFONT of the file parser.c of the component listswf. The manipulation as part of a SWF File leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Heap-based buffer overflow in the parseSWF_DEFINEFONT function in parser.c in the listswf tool in libming 0.4.7 allows remote attackers to have unspecified impact via a crafted SWF file.
The bug was discovered 02/16/2017. The weakness was presented 02/17/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo with Gentoo (oss-sec). The advisory is available at openwall.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-9829 since 12/04/2016. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
