A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 (Web Browser). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown part of the component Status Bar. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a authentication spoofing vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-290. This attack-focused weakness is caused by incorrectly implemented authentication schemes that are subject to spoofing attacks. Impacted is confidentiality, and integrity.
The issue has been introduced in 03/16/2010. The weakness was shared 07/11/2013 by metropolis haxor as Internet Explorer 9 Status Bar Obfuscation Clickjacking as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The vendor was not involved in the public release. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
