A vulnerability was discovered in SPICE before 0.13.90 in the server s protocol handling. An attacker able to connect to the SPICE server could send crafted messages which would cause the process to crash.
The bug was discovered 02/06/2017. The weakness was shared 02/16/2017 by Frediano Ziglio with Red Hat as 854336 / [SECURITY] [DSA 3790-1] spice security update as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-9578 since 11/23/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
