A vulnerability was found in ImageMagick up to 7.0.0 (Image Processing Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function ReadVIFFImage of the file coders/viff.c. The ReadVIFFImage function in coders/viff.c in ImageMagick before 7.0.1-0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or other unspecified impact via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 12/26/2016. The weakness was presented 03/03/2017 by Bastien Roucaries (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-10065 since 12/26/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
