Multiple Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issues were discovered in webpagetest 3.0. The vulnerabilities exist due to insufficient filtration of user-supplied data (benchmark, time) passed to the webpagetest-master/www/benchmarks/delta.php URL. An attacker could execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a browser in the context of the vulnerable website.

The bug was discovered 03/04/2017. The weakness was presented 03/08/2017 by Venustech with Adlab of Venustech (GitHub Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-6539 since 03/08/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
