The read_new_config_info function in open_utils.c in Wavpack before 5.1.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a crafted WV file.
The bug was discovered 03/14/2017. The weakness was disclosed 03/14/2017 by Hanno Böck (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-10172 since 01/28/2017. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
