A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in libimobiledevice libplist 1.12. This vulnerability affects the function parse_string_node of the file bplist.c of the component PLIST File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The parse_string_node function in bplist.c in libimobiledevice libplist 1.12 allows local users to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted plist file.
The bug was discovered 03/02/2017. The weakness was shared 03/15/2017 by zhunki (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-6435 since 03/02/2017. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
