A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in libimobiledevice libplist 1.12. Affected is the function base64encode of the file base64.c of the component PLIST File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The base64encode function in base64.c in libimobiledevice libplist 1.12 allows local users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a crafted plist file.
The bug was discovered 03/02/2017. The weakness was released 03/15/2017 by zhunki (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-6437 since 03/02/2017. Local access is required to approach this attack. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
