A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in libaudiofile 0.3.6. Affected is the function readValue of the file FileHandle.cpp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. Heap-based buffer overflow in the readValue function in FileHandle.cpp in audiofile (aka libaudiofile and Audio File Library) 0.3.6 allows remote attackers to have unspecified impact via a crafted WAV file.
The bug was discovered 02/20/2017. The weakness was disclosed 03/15/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo with Gentoo (Website). The advisory is shared for download at blogs.gentoo.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-6828 since 03/12/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
