A vulnerability was found in Artifex MuPDF up to 1.9 (Document Reader Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function main of the file jstest_main.c of the component Mujstest. Buffer overflow in the main function in jstest_main.c in Mujstest in Artifex Software, Inc. MuPDF before 1.10 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds write) via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 09/24/2016. The weakness was released 03/16/2017 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-10246 since 03/12/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
