A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in MediaWiki up to 1.23.11/1.24.4/1.25.3/1.26.0 (Content Management System). This issue affects the function hash_compare of the component cURL. The manipulation of the argument wgArticlePath with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability (File). MediaWiki before 1.23.12, 1.24.x before 1.24.5, 1.25.x before 1.25.4, and 1.26.x before 1.26.1 do not properly sanitize parameters when calling the cURL library, which allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via an @ (at sign) character in unspecified POST array parameters.
The weakness was disclosed 03/23/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.wikimedia.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-8625 since 12/23/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
