NTP before 4.2.8p10 and 4.3.x before 4.3.94 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (ntpd crash) via a malformed mode configuration directive.
The bug was discovered 03/21/2017. The weakness was presented 03/21/2017 with Cure53 as March 2017 ntp-4.2.8p10 NTP Security Vulnerability Announcement as confirmed release notes (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.ntp.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-6464 since 03/03/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely.
