A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 22.0 (Web Browser). It has been classified as critical. This affects the function nsINode::GetParentNode. Use-after-free vulnerability in the nsINode::GetParentNode function in Mozilla Firefox before 23.0 and SeaMonkey before 2.20 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (heap memory corruption and application crash) via vectors involving a DOM modification at the time of a SetBody mutation event.
The weakness was shared 08/06/2013 by Federico Lanusse (Nils) with MWR Labs/InfoSecurity as MFSA 2013-64 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at mozilla.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-1704 since 02/13/2013. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
