Details
A vulnerability was found in PHPList 3.2.6 (Mailing List Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file /lists/index.php of the component Edit Subscription. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was published 03/17/2017 by Tim Coen with Curesec Research Team as phplist 3.2.6: SQL Injection as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The public release has been coordinated with the project team. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-20029. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
A public exploit has been developed by Tim Coen and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:lists/index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The code used by the exploit is:

Upgrading to version 3.3.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
