Details
A vulnerability has been found in Cherry Music up to 0.35.x and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part. The manipulation of the argument value with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, and integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in Cherry Music before 0.36.0 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files via the "value" parameter to "download."
The weakness was released 03/27/2017 by feedersec as EDB-ID 40361 as confirmed exploit (Exploit-DB). The advisory is shared at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-8309 since 11/20/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation.
