A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Apache Ambari up to 2.3.x. Affected is an unknown code block of the component REST API. The certificate signing REST API in Apache Ambari before 2.4.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via shell metacharacters in the agentHostname value.
The bug was discovered 05/14/2014. The weakness was presented 03/29/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at cwiki.apache.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-3582 since 05/14/2014. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
