A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in PoDoFo 0.9.5 (Document Reader Software). Affected by this issue is the function PoDoFo::PdfSimpleEncoding::ConvertToEncoding of the file PdfEncoding.cpp. The manipulation as part of a PDF Document leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The PoDoFo::PdfSimpleEncoding::ConvertToEncoding function in PdfEncoding.cpp in PoDoFo 0.9.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read and application crash) via a crafted PDF document.
The bug was discovered 03/31/2017. The weakness was shared 04/03/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-7379 since 03/31/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
