Riverbed RiOS before 9.0.1 does not properly restrict shell access in single-user mode, which makes it easier for physically proximate attackers to obtain root privileges and access decrypted data by replacing the /opt/tms/bin/cli file.
The bug was discovered 02/13/2017. The weakness was disclosed 04/04/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-7307 since 03/29/2017. The attack needs to be approached locally. A single authentication is needed for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
