When ImageMagick 7.0.6-1 processes a crafted file in convert, it can lead to a heap-based buffer over-read in the WriteCIPImage() function in coders/cip.c, related to the GetPixelLuma function in MagickCore/pixel-accessor.h.

The bug was discovered 07/22/2017. The weakness was presented 07/26/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-11639 since 07/25/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
