The xps_load_sfnt_name function in xps/xpsfont.c in Artifex Ghostscript GhostXPS 9.22 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (buffer overflow and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted document.

The bug was discovered 07/25/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/26/2017 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared at git.ghostscript.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-9618 since 06/14/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
