An Unquoted Search Path or Element issue was discovered in Automated Logic Corporation (ALC) ALC WebCTRL, i-Vu, SiteScan Web 6.5 and prior; ALC WebCTRL, SiteScan Web 6.1 and prior; ALC WebCTRL, i-Vu 6.0 and prior; ALC WebCTRL, i-Vu, SiteScan Web 5.5 and prior; and ALC WebCTRL, i-Vu, SiteScan Web 5.2 and prior. An unquoted search path vulnerability may allow a non-privileged local attacker to change files in the installation directory and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

The bug was discovered 08/22/2017. The weakness was presented 08/25/2017 as EDB-ID 42542 as not defined exploit (Exploit-DB). It is possible to read the advisory at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-9644 since 06/14/2017. Attacking locally is a requirement. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1574.009 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
