A vulnerability was found in GNOME Evince up to 3.24.0. It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown part of the file backend/comics/comics-document.c of the component Comic Book Backend. The manipulation as part of a CBT File leads to a command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-77. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
backend/comics/comics-document.c (aka the comic book backend) in GNOME Evince before 3.24.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a .cbt file that is a TAR archive containing a filename beginning with a "--" command-line option substring, as demonstrated by a --checkpoint-action=exec=bash at the beginning of the filename.
