The bug was discovered 12/18/2004. The weakness was published 12/20/2004 by Arman Nayyeri as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-1324 since 01/06/2005. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
