A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in libwebm up to 2018-01-30. This affects the function ParseVP9SuperFrameIndex
in the library common/libwebm_util.cc of the component webm File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
The function ParseVP9SuperFrameIndex in common/libwebm_util.cc in libwebm through 2018-01-30 does not validate the child_frame_length data obtained from a .webm file, which allows remote attackers to cause an information leak or a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read and later out-of-bounds write), or possibly have unspecified other impact.
