A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Sun Solaris 9 (Operating System). Affected is an unknown functionality in the library libkadm5srv of the component Kerberos V5. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 115270 (Apple Mac OS X Security Update 2005-007 v1.1 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2005-08-17)).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at web.mit.edu.It is possible to mitigate the weakness by firewalling . The best possible mitigation is suggested to be applying a restrictive firewalling. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
