A vulnerability in the conferencing component of Mitel Connect ONSITE, versions R1711-PREM and earlier, and Mitel ST 14.2, release GA28 and earlier, could allow an unauthenticated attacker to inject PHP code using specially crafted requests to the vendrecording.php page. Successful exploit could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary PHP code within the context of the application.
The bug was discovered 03/06/2018. The weakness was disclosed 03/14/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at mitel.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2018-5781 since 01/18/2018. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 8 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:vendrecording.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
