The Linux kernel 4.15 has a Buffer Overflow via an SNDRV_SEQ_IOCTL_SET_CLIENT_POOL ioctl write operation to /dev/snd/seq by a local user.
The bug was discovered 02/14/2018. The weakness was disclosed 03/30/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at mailman.alsa-project.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-7566 since 02/28/2018. An attack has to be approached locally. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
