rhnreg_ks in Red Hat Network Client Tools (aka rhn-client-tools) on Red Hat Gluster Storage 2.1 and Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5, 6, and 7 does not properly validate hostnames in X.509 certificates from SSL servers, which allows remote attackers to prevent system registration via a man-in-the-middle attack.

The bug was discovered 03/04/2015. The weakness was published 04/12/2018 by Jan Bee with Google (oss-sec). The advisory is available at openwall.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-1777 since 02/17/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1587.003 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
