An exploitable denial of service vulnerability exists within the reading of proprietary server certificates in FreeRDP 2.0.0-beta1+android11. A specially crafted challenge packet can cause the program termination leading to a denial of service condition. An attacker can compromise the server or use man in the middle to trigger this vulnerability.

The bug was discovered 07/24/2017. The weakness was shared 04/24/2018 by Tyler Bohan with Cisco Talos (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-2836 since 12/01/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1587.003 for this issue.
