A vulnerability has been found in Play Framework 2.6.12/2.6.13/2.6.14/2.6.15 on Windows and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component Assets Controller. The manipulation as part of a HTTP Requests leads to a path traversal vulnerability. A directory traversal vulnerability has been found in the Assets controller in Play Framework 2.6.12 through 2.6.15 (fixed in 2.6.16) when running on Windows. It allows a remote attacker to download arbitrary files from the target server via specially crafted HTTP requests.
The bug was discovered 07/16/2018. The weakness was published 07/17/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at playframework.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-13864 since 07/10/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
