A vulnerability has been found in Linux Foundation Xen up to 4.3.1 (Virtualization Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function in the library tools/libvchan/io.c of the file tools/libvchan/io.c of the component xenstore Ring. The weakness was presented 02/06/2014 by Marek Marczykowski-Gorecki with Invisible Things Lab as libvchan failure handling malicious ring indexes as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at xenbits.xenproject.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. The attack needs to be approached locally. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Applying the patch xsa86.patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at xenbits.xenproject.org. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
