Imperva SecureSphere 13.0.0.10/13.1.0.10 PWS os command injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Imperva SecureSphere 13.0.0.10/13.1.0.10. Affected is some unknown functionality of the component PWS. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

A command injection vulnerability in PWS in Imperva SecureSphere 13.0.0.10 and 13.1.0.10 Gateway allows an attacker with authenticated access to execute arbitrary OS commands on a vulnerable installation.

The weakness was shared 04/25/2019. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2018-16660 since 09/07/2018. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. A authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1202 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

A public exploit has been developed by rsp3ar in Ruby/Metasploit and been published before and not just after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at github.com. It is declared as highly functional. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 199 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
