The Airbrake Ruby notifier 4.2.3 for Airbrake mishandles the blacklist_keys configuration option and consequently may disclose passwords to unauthorized actors. This is fixed in 4.2.4 (also, 4.2.2 and earlier are unaffected).

The weakness was disclosed 09/06/2019. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-16060 since 09/06/2019. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. Upgrading to version 4.2.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
