A default configuration of Apache on Debian GNU/Linux sets the ServerRoot to /usr/doc, which allows remote users to read documentation files for the entire server.
The weakness was presented 01/17/1999 (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-1999-0678. The exploitation is known to be easy.
