A vulnerability has been found in Alwil Software Avast! Antivirus up to 4.6.665 (Anti-Malware Software) and classified as critical. Buffer overflow in the Aavmker4 device driver in Avast! Antivirus 4.6 and possibly other versions allows local users to cause a denial of service (system crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via certain signals combined with crafted input.
The bug was discovered 05/11/2017. The weakness was shared 05/26/2005 by Piotr Bania (Website). The advisory is available at pb.specialised.info. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-1770 since 05/31/2005. The attack can only be done within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but an exploit is available.
