A vulnerability has been found in Anaconda Foundation Directory (affected version not known) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file apexec.pl. The manipulation of the argument template
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in apexec.pl in Anaconda Foundation Directory allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) attack.
The bug was discovered 10/12/2000. The weakness was released 10/12/2000 by Pestilence as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2000-0975. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
